I'm out :(

Well today was my official testing day. I've been getting negatives for a few days but the absence of my typical early spotting had me hanging on to some sorta hope.

But a slight temp drop and spotting this morning confirms that this was not the cycle. I know this was the first month we actually tried so I don't know why I got my hopes up. But I did. It would have been so nice to get a bfp for christmas.

I'm sad, really sad actually. But I'm also very blessed. And I can't forget that. It could be worse. I have an amazing husband, loving family and friends, and we are not struggling to pay for bills and presents like some this Christmas season. My heart and prayers go out to them.

As for me, my focus is on the real reason for the season. Thank you God for everything.

January brings a new year and another chance to try. It also brings with it hope and a promise for new and better things. Parts of 2011 were pretty wonderful, and I'm ready to see how Gods gonna top it.

I love you Nick. Thank you for being my rock. And thank you also to the family and friends who can pick me up at my worst and support me in my best. I love you!

Wordless Wednesday

What Could have Been...

shameless plug...

So, I don't normally do stuff like this but today I have a favor to ask of you, my lovely readers out there. TLC is running a contest for a free honeymoon and I entered a photo to try and win.

If you could go here and vote for me, that would be just PEACHY! :)  You can vote once a day, every day.

If you can't find it look under the heart warming section or search Lindsey A. The photo is this one:

Back story? My Dad was in a horrific accident on Father's Day and they weren't sure he'd live much less walk again.  His girlfriend was killed. It was a hard time for all of us. This picture was taken right after his surgeon, who agreed to come!!!, swapped out his two crutches for a cane. He walked me down so proudly and kept telling me to smile...not so easy Dad. Later he ended up dancing with me in a Father Daughter dance through the pain.  So amazing.

Other side note/shameless plug, my husband and I couldn't afford a honey moon and have yet to go on one.

And because I love him, and really the wedding was about us, a pic of the hubby and I <3

Groceries for Under $250/month!?

Visit Budget101.com

Personally, I think that Nick and I usually manage to not spend over 250 already each month for groceries, but I'm excited to view this ebook to learn some good tips and hints for budgeting...especially those months where we are getting a little "close" in our budgets and spending.

Ideas?

I'm trying to figure out how to celebrate my baby.

In a short 9 days, it will be the 10th and it will have been a year since my due date.

I'm supposed to have a one year old...I'm supposed to be celebrating my adoreable one year old son with all of my friends and family.

All I want is to be a Mom..to make my husband a daddy. And it kills me that that hasn't happened yet.
We're still trying, but it doesn't make this any easier.

I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice or ideas for how to celebrate the day a little bit. I really don't want to go through the whole day sad. I thought about releasing balloons or making a cake, but I think my husband has to work which means I'll most likely be alone for the day....

I need to do something...or I'll go crazy.

I miss you my little monkey. <3

Making over our basement into a good hang out space

Guest post written by Nicole Waterson

I guess that one thing I kind of worry about is my teenagers not having a safe place to hang out with their friends when they want to. Because of that, I like to let them invite their friends over often because I feel much safer with them under my watch. Our house doesn't have a good area for them to do that in though, so I decided to make one out of our unfinished basement.

I looked online to see if I could find a good tip or two about how to make a good hang out space for teenagers. That's when I ran across some info on HOME PRO IMPROVEMENT and after I looked through it some, I decided to use them to replace our roofing. My husband's been shopping around for someone to do that forever anyway.

But I also found some good resources on how to make over our basement. I decided to paint the walls a light gray to make it look more modern than the current beige color. Plus I bought some slipcovers with geometric designs on them to put over our old couches. I think they were pretty impressed by what I did with the space!

Soulful Sunday

On Soulful Sunday, I post collections of my favorite worship songs, thoughts about religion, God, and life. Excuse me whilst I bring a little church up in here.

I had completely forgotten about the dragonfly in this video until I watched it again.  Thank you for that Lord, I can only hope it is a sign for good things to come. Especially after having some tough days lately.

GERMS!

Can we talk about germs for a second???

As a preschool teacher, I come in contact with germs a lot more than I would like. I couldn't tell you how many times I've wiped a runny nose, been coughed or sneezed on, or how much I wash my hands when I'm at work.

Sometimes, though, you're somewhere where soap and water aren't always available. That's where Prefense comes in! I can definitely remember several times that I was on the playground or leaving a child's home and wanted to wash my hands.Prefense prides itself in being "a unique, alcohol-free hand sanitizer that provides you and your family proactive security from germs that can make you sick." It is 100 % poison free, alcohol free and safe for kids. Like Prefense on Facebook here!

Prefense is available in many different sizes and types. I was sent a 1.5 fl oz pump style bottle for review which is said to contain 120 sprays.  The spray is silica based, and is supposed to smooth, soften and protect.  It has a light citrus scent, but not enough to be noticeable.

Upon applying the prefense to my hands, I like that it sprays out cleanly.   When I first rub it in, my hands always feel a tad waxy, but that seems to go away quickly once my hands are dry, leaving a smooth finish. My guess is that the silica is what protects your hands from the multiple washings, and knowing how chapped my hands can get, especially in the winter, I really like this feature!

I would definitely recommend Prefense to anyone but especially Moms, teachers and those in the medical field. Such a quick, inexpensive, healthy way to clean your hands when soap isn't readily available!

In fact, Prefense is now offering sanitizing wipes in their online store. I think this would be a great way to clean not only your hands but possibly toys/books that get sticky while you are out on the go! Follow Prefense on Twitter!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Comfortable

I love to be comfortable. On my days off when I desperately need to rest and relax you can typically find me on the couch in a comfy tee, some work out shorts and under a cozy blanket.

There's something about a familiar blanket and comfy clothes that always makes you feel better, too, don't ya think? I know that was my favorite part of when I would stay home from school sick. Staying on the couch in comfy clothes under my favorite blanket, with some ginger ale.

The cool thing is, that tee shirts are beginning to be more purposeful and stylish now a days. They aren't just clothes to "beat around in". It is now acceptable to wear teeshirts out to clubs, the grocery store and even to work!

I was recently sent a teeshirt from tshirtprinting.net for review. They sent me a grey short sleeve shirt with their mascot, a colorful monkey, on the front.

The company specializes in all types of shirts from normal every day tees for men and women, to polos for work, printed hoodies and more.  They offer tons of styles and colors, competitive prices, and promise a quick turn around time so that you get your shirts in a timely manner!

This would be a great resource for any company looking to provide shirts to their employees. They work hard to personalize your shirt with your own company logo and information!

This time of year there are also a lot of fundraisers and walks going on for various causes. What a great way to show support for a cause but also have team unity! Matching teeshirts!  I've never had to order mass tee shirts before, but if I ever do, I know I have a great resource in this site.

The shirt they sent me is made with 90 percent heavy cotton and 10 percent polyester. The colors withstood washing and drying very well, although I'm curious to see how the screen printed picture on the front stands up over time. I try to turn the shirt inside out before I wash and dry it to help with that. At the advice of the sites owner, I ordered my shirt a size smaller than I'm used to and I'm glad I did. The shirts run bigger and my medium fits impecably. I feel comfortable in the shirt, it wears great and will be a huge hit with my preschool kiddos who are loving monkeys and all animals right now.

Back to the Drawing Board lol

Well, first cycle trying was a bust. Don't have to to tell you how I know right?

I'm doing okay, not really upset by it at all actually. More just stressed about work and what not.

I really wish I had a working heating pad though :/

Might have to run to walmart for one tomorrow after work.

Cue Final Jeopardy Tune....

So, I absolutely hate that I forgot to temp *consistently* this cycle...because its really annoying me that my ovulation date may not be correct

Add that to the fact that, I've had "symptoms" for almost a week now, and its still too early to test, I'm severely impatient!

I feel like I'm stuck in a revolving loop of that severely annoying final jeopardy music...

Its a good thing the tests were cheap. A five pack for 17 bucks at walmart...I'm not sure my resolve will hold out much longer! LOL

In other news, my godson will begin coming here starting on the 8th. He is such a sweet heart and I'm so glad I can help out his mommy and daddy by watching him a few nights a week while they work!

I'm heading to bed now, but do me a favor and keep me in your thoughts and prayers that I gain some testing patience, and that I have strength, no matter the eventual test outcome! :)

TMI....maybe. But this is my blog so..

First of all, I'm so sorry that I've been absent from the blogging world for so long!!!

I've been insanely busy lately between going back to work and the craziness that is my classroom (LONG STORY), and then helping my best friend get married to Nick's best friend. They are an AMAZING couple and I'm so very happy for them. :)

It must be the time for our generation to be getting married because we sure are going to be busy attending weddings in the next few months!! I just attended a bridal shower for an amazing friend of mine yesterday actually!!

Now, onto why I started this post in the first place...and it may be TMI for some, so if you're not interested...stop reading now. lol

After what seems like forever, we are now FINALLY trying to conceive again! I am so hopeful, nervous, excited...its a bunch of feelings all pushed together. I know that if it doesn't happen this month, it will be okay, but I'm strangely confident.

I hate this part though...the two week wait as they call it. Where you sit and you wait, and you wait...and you WAIT.

Ugh. Of course, my brain is analyzing every twinge! I just want it to be testing day already!

I'm scared obviously, after two miscarriages, its hard not to be. But Nick is an amazing man, and my ROCK. I am so very thankful for him. He's scared too though. He worries we may never be able to have kids, because of all the issues. That straight up breaks my heart. I want NOTHING more to make him a father...because I know he will be amazing at it! I already told him that if my issues continue we can look into getting more testing done if necessary or meds....and then a surrogate. Because then, even though I sadly wouldn't get to experience the getting pregnant part, at least it would be a baby made of Nick and I, just carried by someone else.

Of course, there are worries with that too. Who would we choose. Would they miscarry too due to a possible genetic issue between nick and I? The EXPENSE?!?!

Adoption is always an option as well, but that is sort of our last resort. Its an amazing thing to do but I just want to exhaust all options of biological children first before researching that step :)

I know though that I will do ANYTHING within my power, to get us a baby. I'm just hoping and praying that God grants us the ability to conceive a healthy baby at some point. We're ready.  The next two weeks will be hard and anxious and I may use this venue to vent about it, so I'm sorry in advance if I get a little personal lol

And even though I know it might be hard for some....ahem, MOM ;) .....don't ask me every day if we know yet or if we tested. If by the grace of God the test does come back positive we will be waiting to announce for at least awhile, given the past.  Trust me though, that if for once, things come back good, i will be posting on here at some point!

As always, your thoughts, prayers, and encouragements are always very welcome!

The Amazing Race!

We're going to take a break from the regularly scheduled programming for a second to discuss the Amazing Race.  This show typically airs on CBS on Sundays at 8!

I'll be completely honest here...I'm not a huge fan of the show and haven't seen many episodes. However, I get the general concept. If you are like me, and haven't really seen the show, here's a basic run down. On the show, which is an action/adventure game show, various teams of people race around the world to amazing locations to compete for one million dollars. Along the way they compete in various Pit Stop, Detour and Roadblock challenges, designed to eliminate competition and learn more about the locations.

A friend of mine is a huge travel bug, and loves the show. I could totally see her throwing a party for the start of the new season, or for the finale! If she does choose to do this, she has a perfect resource at her finger tips, right here.

Within partygamesplus.com, there are 100's of party ideas! I was lucky enough to receive the Amazing Race Printables for review. If you visit the site, you will see that this set is actually featured as Party of the Month! All of the printables I will discuss are available for instant download from their site for just 12.99. They also provide a whole page of Amazing Race party ideas such as decorations, location plans, and clues to go along with the printables, for free!

The actual printables that were sent to me, were sent as birthday party invitations. I liked that I received two different types of invitations and that the travel theme stayed consistent throughout. The only thing I will say is that the invitations, which alluded to pizza and fun, seemed slightly juvenile, and the amazing race doesn't quite strike me as a show or concept that teenagers could relate too, although, maybe I'm wrong.

That said, you could totally use this printable set for other reasons, and just make your own invitations.  Along with the invitations, it comes with graphics to print on envelopes, as well as a huge sheet of printables to accompany the Roadblock, Detour and Pit Stop Challenges the show is known for.

My favorite part of the whole set were the Amazing Race water bottle labels!  Such a cute addition, and it would make great favors!

Go check out Party Games Plus! They have ideas for kids, teens, adults (including drinking games! LOL), Wii Parties and more!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I came out...

as a Baby loss Mother.

On Facebook.

I'm nervous, in fact....I'm terrified. I'm not sure why, but I figure that this reaction alone is why organizations like this exist. To support women in talking about their babies, and to reduce the stigma behind pregnancy loss! Find out more about the Day of Hope.

Today I remember my babies.

A Thank You, and Luau Party Games Review

First of all, I wanted to extend my deepest thanks and well wishes to all of my awesome readers. I am so blessed and think its AWESOME that this blog has 45 Readers! What a great thing!

Thank you all for going on this journey with me! Thank you for sticking with me!

Now onto the business of this post. Just a few days ago, I posted this review of the Luau Party Ideas Ebook.  Just a reminder that this ebook is free (!) to anyone, all you have to do is sign up to the Python Printable Games Newsletter  and it's yours to keep!

"The eBook contains the Moo-Luau Mad Libs, FREE Luau Invitations, and a coupon for 10 percent off the Luau game pack, plus lots of Luau party planning tips and recipes."

Check out the book!

I was lucky enough to receive a link to review the various luau games available for purchase the other day, and you yourself can get this game pack with the coupon mentioned above!

The first game I viewed, was the "Hawaiian Moo-Lau Mad Libs". This game is the game provided for free in the Party Idea book already.  It is colorful, fun, and I like it because you really choose how the game goes.  Just like the Mad Libs from when we were kids, you fill in a word list and then enter your words with in a story. This can really be as funny as you want it to be, depending on what words you enter. It can be catered for a kid or adult party!

The second thing I viewed was the luau party doll set. This again, is very like the paper dolls from when we were kids.  The set is provided blank, which I think could be fun because you could color it on your own. The second set is in color and only needs to be cut out and placed on the paper dolls provided.  I think this would mostly be fun for a kids party, and only if you had several copies of the set, already cut out. Younger kids wouldn't have the fine motor control to cut them out, but would enjoy the activity. Older kids and adults I think may find it a tad boring or pointless. I also think it could slow the pace of a good luau.  One idea/thought I had, for those of us that are DIYers, it would be fun to back these paper dolls on popsicle sticks and use them as food labels or just decorations in and around the party.

The third game I viewed was the Luau Newlywed Game, and this is very similar to the original Newlywed game. You answer questions about your spouses, and see who matches the most to determine a winner. I think it would be fun to use this in like a luau themed bridal/couples shower or even if you have a couples night with some friends. See which couples know the most about each other and break the ice over some fruity/tropical drinks with this fun game!

Finally, the last game I viewed was called "Lei it On Me"  It would be a great ice breaker for any Luau themed party. Everyone starts out with a lei on, draws a card and fills in the blank. Then, you place all the filled in cards back into the stack.  Once someone pulls a card, they have to guess who filled it out. If they are right, they earn another flower lei, if they are wrong, the owner of the answer wins the flower lei. At the end, the person with the most flower lei's wins. From a young adult perspective (I'll be 26 in like a week), this would be fun to play as a drinking game as well, lol!  **Disclaimer- I do not condone underage drinking, or drinking and driving! If you are underage, please do not drink!  If you are of age, and do drink , please make sure you have a designated driver!!**

All in all, I think if you have a good crew of people and the makings of a good party, these games would be a fun addition. After all, you and your imagination are what make the games work!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Who needs an excuse to Party??

Hello Readers! I was recently given the opportunity to review an AWESOME ebook of Hawaiian Luau Party Ideas.

Like anybody, I absolutely LOVE a good party. From the planning to the decorations to the food, it is all so much fun! Many of you know I recently moved. I had thought about having some sort of house warming party. Well, now that I've received this ebook, I actually wonder if having a Luau might be fun. Plus, Luaus are all the rage right now! I can't tell you the wealth of decorations I've found in simple places like the dollar store and Walmart. Of course, there is also a ton of available stuff at our local party store!

Before I get started here, let me tell you the most awesome part. This entire book of awesome luau ideas is FREE to anyone who signs upto the Python Printable Games Newsletter, which is also free! All you have to do is go to http://www.python-printable-games.com/fun-printable-games-ezine.html
and enter in your name, email address and click subscribe.  I'm actually thinking of subscribing myself, because their website has tons of party ideas from camping parties, to birthday parties, and even a spot where you can check out all of their printable games!

Upon dowloading the book to my computer (as a pdf file) I couldn't help but first think that it would actually be fun to print out and have at hand and not have to be scrolling on the computer. It would also make it really easy to show off where you got all the fun ideas from. Unfortunately, our printer is not currently hooked up and I'm not sure I'm comfortable using that amount of ink anyway.

I liked several things about the book. I liked first that it included lots of color and real luau pictures. It catches your attention but also gives your eye a break from all the text. In fact the entire, "table of contents", is nothing but pictures.

The idea book includes several different types of invitations that would be appropriate for a luau. If I end up doing a luau party once we get moved in and all, I will probably print several pages of one type rather than using all the different versions.

I LOVED that the book came with decoration ideas from Amazon.com complete with clickable links!!!! This makes the OCD part of my brain very happy, lol. And if you're like me, you know that some of the decorations are totally able to be made yourself and the pictures will only serve as inspiration! ;)

The next few pages of the book are cake, costume, recipe and drink ideas. I love baking a good cake and this book totally has me craving Pineapple Upside Down Cake now.  Now, I know what you're thinking, costumes? But here's the awesome part...you can definitely get away with just a simple lei and sunglasses at a luau if you don't want to go the grass skirt and coconut bra route! I also don't think any of us need an excuse to have a fruity drink :P

The last few pages of the book are a list of different games that can be downloaded at their site for a cost. Not to worry though, if you sign up for the newsletter and get the book, a coupon code for 10% off any game is also included, not to mention a FREE copy of their mad lib game.

All in all I think this would be a great resource for anyone planning a luau type party!  And heck if you can get the reader for free just by signing up for a newsletter, why not? I do think that if the reader was not free, I would not pay for it. That's totally me though, I'm a cheap skate and with the wealth of internet info available I doubt I'd pay for anything like that.

P.S. Stay tuned to the blog for another review AND give away, this time of a Luau Party games pack!!!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Step One...Remove Foot from Mouth

Unfortunately, I am one of THOSE people.

I tend to say stupid things sometimes, most of the time without ever meaning to.

I don't know why but for whatever reason, there are days, times and moments where I lack a filter. I say really stupid stuff without thinking first about what I'm saying, who it could hurt or how it could be interpreted.

The crazy part is, is that whenever I do say something, I always realize it afterwards. Most of the time, I just worded it wrong.

I have this incessant need to fill silence. Sometimes, in trying to do that, I say stupid things.

I also get nervous when I am put on the spot. So sometimes, when a conversation turns to me, I verbal vomit and later, realize I probably sounded one fry short of a happy meal.

I also tend to say things when I'm frustrated that I don't mean. Most of that is normal though, I think?

When my emotions are high, I either lack words or have a ton of them (see this blog post), the moral of the story is, I'm sorry that sometimes, I lack common sense.

For ANYONE I could have ever hurt with ANYTHING I have ever said, I am truly and deeply sorry. I am working on this whole foot in mouth/common sense thing. I really am.

Please accept my apologies, and know that I try to be the best person I know how. I don't need more enemies in my life. I have very few friends as it is.

To my friends, I love you all. Thank you for being there, when I'm at my best, but even more so when I'm at my worst.

To my husband- I love you more than I ever thought possible. You are my world. Thank you for putting up with me and helping me, but most of all for being patient with me when I get hit with a dose of foot in mouth disease. Thank you for loving me.
